- Fence on a slope calculator
Stepped panel fencing on sloping ground: post lengths, gaps under the panels, infill pieces and gravel boards.
Planning a panel fence
- Measure the run. Measure each straight section along the line of the fence, and note any gates and corners.
- Measure a panel and a post. Post spacing depends on how the panel is held, so measure one panel and the post it fits against.
- Count panels, posts and gravel boards with the fence panel calculator.
- Work out the concrete with the fence post concrete calculator, using your hole size.
- Check the height. In England a fence can generally be up to 2 metres high, or 1 metre next to a highway, without planning permission. Check the exceptions for your property.
